Department Overview

The Child Find Department is available for the evaluation of preschool-age students who are not already enrolled in school and school-age students who are homeschooled or enrolled in private schools and reside within Clark County. Evaluations for school-age students are completed at the attendance-zoned school.

 

Child Find Department services include:

  • Assesses children who may be eligible for special education and related services as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Develops initial Individualized Educational Programs for eligible children.
  • Develops initial Service Plans for eligible children who are homeschooled or enrolled in private school.
  • Engages in community outreach to identify children who may need services.
  • Provides connections for families to community resources.
  • Collaborate with Nevada Early Intervention Services (NEIS) to ensure no interruption in services.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Child Find Department is to facilitate communication and collaboration with stakeholders to find, locate, and evaluate children who have a disability and are eligible for services and develop a plan to address the individualized academic, social/behavior, and communication needs of all students.
