Department Resources

Department Overview

Gifted Education Services (GES) identifies and serves the academic and affective needs of identified students as follows:

• • Gifted and Talented (GATE) in Grades 3-5, (minimum 150 minutes per week)
  • Students identified as highly gifted, beginning at age 7
  • Students identified as eligible for the Title I Alternative Gifted Services (TAGS) program in Title I schools (minimum 50 minutes per week)

In addition, the following services are provided:

• • Professional learning opportunities for classroom and gifted programs’ teachers
  • Assess and identify students for gifted programs
  • Conduct universal screening of all second grade students enrolled full time in CCSD
  • Conduct workshops for parents and students identified for the highly gifted program
  • Consultation and collaboration with general education teachers
